President?s Message ? 01/2007 The count down has begun. January 2007 is here and we are already meeting some of the goals set in our 2007 Board Retreat on December 2nd.
One major goal for this year was a newsletter. Heather Henshall, our Public Relations VP has been putting in a lot of time setting this up and we are very excited with the results. The name has been revived from the past, Sooner Trainer. Our newsletter will be published online during the second week of each month. Don?t hesitate to print a few and share the good news of what our chapter is doing with friends and co-workers. Another major accomplishment for our chapter in the area of Financial Stability is the unanimous approval to reserve a % of funds based on our member count. This is a National Standard that is recommended to all chapters to insure there are funds available when unexpected costs arise. An example would be a major event that failed for some reason or perhaps a loss of substantial membership due to layoffs or reorganizations. . The December Retreat resulted in the following list of Chapter Goals for 2007Goal: Goal: Increase Membership by 50%Goal: Increase Member WIIFM"S Goal: Solidify Financial StabilityGoal: Increase Participation Goal: Collect Chapter Metrics Goal: Increase ASTD Community Visibility Goal: Publish ASTD Newsletter and Press Releases Each of these goals has a list of strategies with deadlines. As you can see there is much to do in 2007 and it will be very exciting to see these things come to fruition Please contact one of our board members if you are curious about our strategies or want to help. We need committee members and volunteers who are willing to share their talent, experience and knowledge. In my New Year?s greeting I mentioned one of our themes this year, "Sharing Our Talent". Now it is time for us to lend a hand. We need committee members for Awards and Recognition, Special Projects, Web Services, Public Relations, Communications and Arrangements. We currently have some committee members for membership and programming although they would also benefit with a few more volunteers. It is together that we will make a difference in 2007. We invite you to join us. |
