2006 is coming to a close and it has been a very successful year for our

success. If you missed them, we have
video presentations for some of them.

We co-sponsored the following certificate courses with the University of
Oklahoma this year:
Accelerated New Trainer Certificate Program, April 25 - 28, 2006
Accelerated New Trainer Certificate Program, October 10 - 13, 2006
As part of our sponsorship of these programs, we get a portion of the
enrollment fee. We also provide breakfast one of the days and talk about
the advantages of belonging to a professional organization. Of course we
advertise for it and our chapter, too!
We had three major goals for 2006.
1. Increase membership by 50%. I am extremely pleased to announce that
we met that goal on December 4 with our 200th member, Sunny Sethi! (By
the way, Sunny was recruited by his wife, Ritz, from Moore-Norman
Technology Center. Way to go, Ritz!)
2. Increase member participation by 25%. I am pleased to announce that
we exceeded that goal by quite a bit. Our average event attendance in
2005 was 31 and our average event attendance in 2006 was 44. In 2005 we
had 14 members working actively on projects. In 2006 we had 26+ actively
working on projects for the chapter.
3. Create a members only section of the website. In addition to creating
this section, we created these areas for it; a members forum, member
posting job site, videos of the monthly programs, board meeting minutes
and core chapter documents sections.
You can feel good that we are also a fiscally sound organization. I have
decided that our Finance VP has a favorite word; NO! It is because of his
efforts and diligence that we have the recommended amount in the bank and
can pay our chapter bills! You can rest assured that our chapter funds
are in good hands. Thanks, Travis!
In addition to the goals we reached in 2006, our chapter became
incorporated. We created a new mission statement for our chapter.
(Advancing the Learning and Development Professions to enhance
performance.) We also are 100% compliant in the 17 CORE elements from
national. (If you are interested in what each of the CORE elements are,
see the national website, www.astd.org, under CORE.)
As part of our service to the community, our members participated in the
Public Broadcasting Service Telethon (OETA Telethon) and the Oklahoma City
Arts Festival.
We held our Board Retreat on December 2 and have a strategic plan in place
for 2007. You will hear more about that from Linda Lumen as she takes the
reins as President for 2007.
I want to thank all the volunteers for making this chapter what it is
today. Without the input and support from our chapter members, our
chapter would not be as successful as it is.
I want to extend a special Thank You to the board members for 2006; Linda
Lumen - President Elect, Lyn Leffler - VP Programming, Stacy Pierce - VP
Arrangements, Kate Beavin - VP Special Projects, Travis Marker - VP
Finance, Bob Howard - VP Data and Web Services, Terri Pickering - VP
Awards and Recognition, Susan Gorton - VP Membership, Daniel DiGriz - VP
Communication and Public Relations and Glenda Russell - Executive Advisor.
They have done an awesome job!
Have a very merry holiday season and a very happy New Year!
