December 9 - Putting Humor in Your Presentations

Anne Barab

December 8-12 is Employee Learning Week, and at our December monthly meeting on Tuesday, December 9, Dallas ASTD will be featuring Anne Barab. In addition to Anne's dynamite program, Putting Humor in Your Presentations, this is the night we'll present our 2008 Best Place to Learn Award! Anne Barab will do the honors of making the announcement for us, and we guarantee it will be an event you won't want to miss!

There are two types of laughter, harsh and cruel or warm and soft. Humor makes you more likeable and approachable. Can you learn to be funny? Maybe… Comics tell jokes; presenters use situational humor. In this program participants will learn:

  • The rules, tools and techniques of creating business humor
  • How to use humor to improve customer service and employee satisfaction
  • How to incorporate appropriate humor into daily conversations
  • How to deliver humorous remarks
Anne Barab

Anne Barab is rumored to be the lost love child of Mark Twain and Lucille Ball for her wit and wisdom. Well, you’ve got to have a sense of humor when you’ve been a school board member for nine years.

Yes, she’s a recovering politician, but she’s also done work where she actually got paid—

like being the Chief Operating Officer of a billion dollar mortgage bank. These days she’s a professional speaker who travels the country helping people balance attitude, reality and behavior to craft lives of significance. She has co-authored two books, Humor Us and The Leadership Path.

Her greatest claim to fame is being married for 36 looong years… all to the same engineer, having 3 kids who aren’t currently in jail and being voted Best Smelling Mom by her son’s first grade.
